Tate Liverpool is a fantastic place to take your family to see some amazing works of art and give them chance to unleash their creative talents!
This exciting art gallery located at the iconic Albert Dock on the Liverpool waterfront offers a packed programme of free activities and events for children and young people all year round.
Entry to Tate Liverpool is free for everyone except for a charge for special exhibitions, with under 12s getting into exhibitions for free.
After exploring the galleries to see some of the most exciting British and international contemporary and modern art, head to the Clore Learning Centre, the Tate’s free space on the first floor, designed just for families.
The Centre comprises a family learning room, an ‘Ideas Lounge’ for young people, and a studio space for workshops giving families the opportunity to relax, play and create in this space while enjoying the beautiful views over the Mersey,
A great place to get stuck into arts and crafts, the space is open daily from 10am to 5pm and offers themed sessions to complement the exhibitions currently on display.
Right now, the theme is Roy Lichtenstein in Focus. Kids can join in What’s your Story? and turn an everyday outing into a comic strip adventure. They can use the lightboxes and projections to make up their own visual story, create a costume with the fabrics, and have an adventure in the dens.
Totally family friendly, the Tate provides free buggy parking on the Ground Level –ask at the ticket desk in the main entrance. You can breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable and there are baby-changing facilities in the basement, at Ground Level and on Level One, near the Clore Learning Centre.
Take a well-earned break in the Tate Liverpool Café which is brightly decorated with colourful motifs by Sir Peter Blake, mirroring his Everybody Razzle Dazzle design and kids can enjoy spending their pocket money in the Tate Liverpool’s gift shop. (All students on presentation of student ID or NUS card will get 10% discount on all purchases in the shop.)
