Do you know someone who has what it takes to be the perfect Father Christmas?

St Luke’s ‘Bombed-Out’ Church which stands at the top of Bold Street, will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland this Christmas and organisers are looking for a special Santa to make it a season of good cheer for all children in the city.

And along with Father Christmas, organisers of what is being tipped to be the ‘must visit’ Christmas grotto experience in the city this year, are also on the hunt for some of Santa’s little helpers.

An open casting for elves is being arranged to give the best local actors and performers the chance to be part of this magical event at an iconic Liverpool landmark.

Ms Christmas from Enchanted Productions, which is hosting the event, said: “It wouldn’t be the season of good cheer without the jolly, red-cheeked giver of gifts.

“We all know someone who has dressed up as Santa before, and although some may remember this as an embarrassing dad moment not to be relived, we also all know someone who once dressed as Father Christmas and unwittingly had definitely found their true calling!

“Our magical Winter Wonderland also needs plenty of enchanting elves to make it a truly sparkling festive season.”

Project manager, Laura Cotter, added: “We’re very aware of the immense amount of talent in Liverpool and want to make sure we get the best of the bunch to make our Winter Wonderland as magical as it can possibly be.

“We also want everyone to have a fair chance at being part of it. So an open casting call for our remaining roles seemed the best way to do it.”

Applicants will ideally have an acting background and must be strong improvisers with great time keeping skills. Grotto or character acting experience will be beneficial but not essential. They must be over 18 and DBS checked with certification.

To attend the auditions, follow the Winter Wonderland Liverpool pages at @winterwonderlandliv on Facebook or Instagram or @winterwonderliv on Twitter, and send them a message informing you want to audition – they will send you all the details you need.

Winter Wonderland takes place from 1-23 December 2018, during which time St Luke’s will be transformed like never before.  Families can make their way through a whole host of activities which include a special appointment with Santa during the experience.

Two-hour timeslots are available to book in advance and the Winter Wonderland ticket price includes Santa’s Workshop where youngsters can make their own bauble or Christmas card to take home; art sessions at Mrs Claus’s Art Studio; play in Snowland; storytelling in Storyland with characters; show off fun dance moves in the Silent Disco; and a trip into Santa’s Grotto with a gift and framed photograph with Santa to take home. In the meantime, adults can enjoy a hot drink and mince pie.

The grounds of St Luke’s will also be a hive of festive activity throughout December and will be open to the public free of charge. Highlights include luxury food and drink outlets, a Christmas market, artisan stalls selling specialised gifts and undercover areas with live entertainment.

Tickets for the Winter Wonderland at St Luke’s “Bombed-Out” Church cost £12.99 for adults and £12.99 for children with a family ticket at £60. Pre-book now at www.ticketquarter.co.uk or call 0844 8000 410.
