Free activities for children in Knowsley libraries this summer

If you’re looking for ways to keep the children entertained over the school summer holidays there’s lots going on in Knowsley’s libraries. What’s more all the activities are free!

Animal Agents Summer Reading Challenge

The packed programme kicks off with events to launch the summer reading challenge in each of the libraries. This year is all about Animal Agents, the detective agency manned by all kinds of clever animals. They love solving mysteries but they need your help to crack their biggest case yet. With every visit to the library you will discover new clues and evidence that will help to solve the cryptic case.

Open to all primary school aged children and designed for all reading abilities the Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to read six library books during the summer holidays.

Each child will receive a special reward each time they finish a book and there’s a certificate for everyone who completes the challenge which runs until 16 September.

Animal detectives and much more

Keeping with the summer reading challenge theme there are lots of animal related activities in the libraries too.

Zoolab ‘Animal Detectives’ sessions are full of fascinating facts about millipedes, snakes, lizards and many more – and, if you’re brave enough, you might even get the chance to hold one of the minibeasts! Meanwhile, The Magic Philip Fun Show promises a roller coast ride of comedy, fun, laughter and of course lots of magic!

As always there will be all sorts of craft activities including butterfly fan making, paper plate animals, create your own animal mobile and design an animal agent mask to name but a few!

There will also be traditional board games sessions, science fun with circuit boards and coding workshops.
